Seva Call Launches in Pittsburgh Seva Call

Today is a big day for the Seva Call team because our service launches in Pittsburgh! With the help from three Carnegie Mellon University students and one University of Pittsburgh student,  Manpreet Singh, the president of Seva Call, returns to Pennsylvania to launch a virtual concierge service to the consumers of Pittsburgh. Along with Singh, Seva Call’s founder and CEO Gurpreet Singh is excited to launch their service in Pittsburgh, especially because many of the summer team members attended college around the Pittsburgh area.

Is the Steel City ready for a hassle-free way of getting connected with high quality businesses? No more looking through that local phone directory that has thousands of listings for different businesses. The life of a Pittsburgh consumer will be easier than ever with the launch of Seva Call

This service is not only great for consumers to use, but it is also convenient for local businesses to fill those empty spots in their schedule. Businesses have the opportunity to accept or decline consumers based on their busy schedules.  Seva Call is here to help create more business opportunities for those local Steel City businesses.

Seva Call President Returns to Philly Bringing Service Help for Locals

Seva Call President Returns to Philly Bringing Service Help for Locals Seva Call

Manpreet Singh, president of Seva Call, takes a trip back to Philadelphia, where he received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.  However, this time he’s not there to study; he’s there to provide a simpler solution for locals searching for service professionals.

As Seva Call is set to launch in Philadelphia on today, Singh begins to reminisce about his time spent in the city of his alma mater.  “It’s such a great feeling to bring my company to Philadelphia, since I got so much of my business knowledge here,” says Singh.  “I’m proud to offer a solution to Philadelphians who need service help.”

For the two years Singh spent studying in Philly, he lived in Rittenhouse Square. According to Singh, the building he lived in was great at fixing common maintenance issues but his friends, who lived in row houses, were always looking for service help.  Any leaky faucet or broken air conditioning unit meant hours spent searching the Yellow Pages for an affordable, local plumber or HVAC technician who was available in between class times.  Thankfully, that search process is over now that citizens and students of Philadelphia have access to Seva Call.

UPenn students and homeowners alike can now rest assured that their service needs can be solved with the click of a button, with Seva Call.

Seva Call Honors Victims of the Wisconsin Shooting with Turban Tuesday

Monday, August 13th, 2012

Turban Tuesday, originally a part of July’s Appre-Xi-Ation week, took on a whole new level of meaning last Tuesday, August 8.  This time, rather than just sporting turbans for fun, the Seva Call team made a statement by showing their support for the victims of last Sunday’s shooting in a Wisconsin Sikh Temple.

The team, made up of members speaking 13 different languages and representing countless different cultures, showed that it doesn’t matter where you come from, what you practice, what you speak or what you wear; we all have one thing in common: we are Americans.

“It means a lot that all these people from such a wide range of cultures and backgrounds were willing to make this kind of statement in support of my culture,” said Cofounder Gurpreet Singh.  The three founders, all of whom are American Sikhs, spent part of the day teaching employees and interns about their religion and, of course, how to tie a turban according to the traditional art of Sikh turban tying.

Seva Call’s founders dedicated time and resources to creating WhoAreSikhs.com, a website designed to raise money for the victims as well as awareness of Sikh culture in general.  Since the event on Sunday, the campaign has raised approximately $150,000.

The Seva Call team taught an important lesson last Tuesday, that many American citizens would benefit from learning.  We encourage you to follow in the Seva Call team’s footsteps and speak out to make a difference.

Seva Call Gets the Phone Ringing for Richmond, VA Professionals

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

Call me, maybe?  No; call me, definitely.  With Seva Call launching in Richmond, VA, today, August 2, service professionals in the area should expect an influx of phone calls coming their way.  It is Seva Call’s goal to find the right professional for every consumer in need, in turn creating more business opportunities for Richmond’s business owners.

The goal of every accountant, dentist, roofer or electrician is not to sit around all day waiting for clients; it is to make sure their schedule is completely booked.  Especially in tough economic times like the present, companies can’t afford to lose any service, and could definitely afford to bring in some more.

According to a statistic we found in a 2011 Fonality.com report, employees waste 74 minutes per day trying to get in touch with customers.  Additionally, 36% of wasted time is spent trying to contact people, find information and schedule meetings, and 14% of time wasted is spent dealing with unwanted communication.  This is where Seva Call comes in.  By allowing businesses to pre-screen leads, employees have the option to decline consumers who need help when they’re booked, and accept consumers whose requests fit into their busy schedules.

By serving business in over 40 service categories from computer repair to plumbing, service professionals of Richmond can rest easy, knowing that Seva Call is here to, once again, save the day.

Seva Man Heads to the Hampton Roads Region

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

Seva Man has had a very busy summer saving consumers all over the D.C. area.  His next stop?  The beach!  Seva Call is set to launch in the Hampton Roads Region today, Tuesday July 31.  This means citizens of the Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake areas no longer have to waste their time and money searching for the right service professional.

We asked Seva Man what he plans to do when he gets to the Hampton Roads Region.  His response is given below:

“Well, after saving all of the consumers in need of help, I think I’ll hit the beach.  I hear Virginia Beach has lots to offer when it comes to fun in the sun.  I’ll probably try my luck at surfing, take a fishing trip, or maybe even go horseback riding.  After that I’ll head over to Norfolk and check out the Botanical Garden.  I hear it’s awesome.  Before I go, I’ll have to drive down to the Chesapeake Golf Club and hit some balls.”

Citizens of the Hampton Roads Region- be on the look out for Seva Man.  And of course, don’t hesitate to ask if you need his help!  Stay tuned for where Seva Man can be spotted next, and what he plans on doing when he gets there.

Appre-Xi-ation Week

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

Here in the Seva Call office, we’re always trying to keep things interesting.  In honor of our “super intern” Xi Zhang, we’ve decided to name this week Appre-Xi-ation Week!  Each day of the week has been named something different, similar to how “spirit week” was in high school. Here’s a rundown of this week’s themes:

Monday – Serious day: dress your best! Working at a startup, there are rarely occasions where we need to dress nicely. Seva Call employees and interns showed up to work this morning dressed to impress.

Tuesday – Cultural day: because we have more than 10 different languages spoken in our office, Tuesday is dedicated to honoring each member of the Seva Call team’s culture. Interns will give a brief lesson on their particular ethnic background.

Wednesday – Dress like someone in the office day: pretty self explanatory.

Thursday – Retro day: a blast from the past! Dress like your favorite decade.

Friday – Seva Call day: wear your Seva Call shirts! Friday is dedicated to showing Seva Call team pride.
