I have a mac book pro circa 2012 that crashes every time you scroll down fast looking at app icons in launch pad. Took the machine to the genius bar and they thought it was hardware related because they tried to run the machine with apple remote images and still get the same issue. I am hoping that you could replace the trackpad.
